Description
This great wee collection of warm and humorous tales will take readers back to earlier times in Ullapool and Lochbroom – a small settlement on the coast of the North-West Highlands of Scotland. The stories take place within Nabbie’s lifetime – 1931 until the present day.
They include stories that took place during WWII, and in the years after the war, when Ullapool was still a traditionally close-knit community, and where nearly every family was still involved in the old ways of life – like fishing and crofting.
There are 33 short stories in the book and they are the kind of yarns that might have been told at an old-style ceilidh – some suspenseful with supernatural overtones – others amusing reminiscences from Nabbie’s childhood.
